Once your Tradovate account is connected to TradingView, you can place and manage trades directly from the Trading Panel.
This guide explains how to enter Buy and Sell positions and how to close active trades.
Step 1: Open the Trading Panel
Open TradingView.
Navigate to the chart of the instrument you want to trade.
Open the Trading Panel located at the bottom of the chart.
Verify that Tradovate is selected as your connected broker.
How to Place a Buy Trade
Using a Market Order
A Market Order executes immediately at the current market price.
Steps
Locate the Buy Market button.
Enter your desired contract size if required.
Click Buy Market.
Confirm the order.
Your position will appear in the Positions section once executed.
Using a Limit Order
A Limit Order allows you to enter at a specific price.
Steps
Select Limit Order.
Enter your desired entry price.
Enter your contract quantity.
Click Buy.
Confirm the order.
The order will remain pending until the market reaches your specified price.
How to Place a Sell Trade
Using a Market Order
A Market Order executes immediately at the current market price.
Steps
Locate the Sell Market button.
Enter your desired contract size if required.
Click Sell Market.
Confirm the order.
Your short position will be opened immediately.
Using a Limit Order
A Limit Order allows you to sell at a specific price.
Steps
Select Limit Order.
Enter your desired price.
Enter your contract quantity.
Click Sell.
Confirm the order.
The order will remain active until the market reaches your selected price.
How to View Open Positions
To review your active trades:
Open the Orders / Positions section at the bottom of TradingView.
Review your active positions, pending orders, and account information.
How to Close a Trade
Step 1: Open Positions
Navigate to the Orders / Positions section.
Step 2: Locate the Position
Find the trade you want to close.
Step 3: Close the Position
Click the X or Close button next to the position.
Step 4: Confirm
Confirm the action to close the trade.
The position will be exited immediately.
Managing Open Orders
If you have a pending order that has not yet been filled:
Open the Orders section.
Locate the pending order.
Modify or cancel the order as needed.
Changes will be applied immediately once confirmed.
